Our Wedding // Part.1 The Details & The I Do's

On the most beautiful day in May, I married my sweetheart. It was something straight out of a dream and we will never forget that beautiful day. After meeting Jeremy at the young age of 12, we quickly became the best of friends. We soon learned that there was more to this little friendship of ours and started dating our freshman year of high school. After being boyfriend and girlfriend for what seemed like an eternity....11 years to be exact, he finally proposed on December 1st 2012. This wedding has been a long time coming and to us was something that held so much meaning. The few previous years leading up to it were filled with so many wonderful memories but there were also some family heartaches, illnesses, changing of jobs, Jeremy had two major ACL knee surgeries... yes when he proposed he may have gotten stuck down on one knee. There were a lot of things leading up to this point for us, and for our family and friends included we all needed a day filled with love, laughter and happiness. We wanted this day to be a day that everyone would remember and would leave filled with so much love in their hearts. Yes! This day was about Jeremy and I starting this journey together of creating our own family but it was also about everyone who was there. These are people who have loved us greatly, been there for us when we needed them and have supported us with all our wild adventures. After Jeremy had recovered enough from his 2nd knee surgery we set a date and things started to feel real. About 8 months out from the special day, I began to start planning. I dove in full force and boy what a fun ride it was. When searching for a venue, I wanted something that felt very pure, something that was one with nature but also something with a bare canvas so I could really create the vision that I had in my head. We ended up choosing The Springs Events located in Poetry, Texas. It was so breathtaking with all the beautiful trees it's surrounded by as well as the sweet deer that frequently take little strolls across the property! It was beyond beautiful and thats when then the "Wedding in the Woods" idea was born! I poured my days and nights into collecting tree limbs from the fields around my house and painting them gold for the centerpieces. I hand dip dyed each streamer that would soon hang from my bridesmaids as well as my own bouquet. I fell in love with the bright pops of color mixed with metallic golds and earthy elements. My Dad, My Brother and Jeremy hand cut and sanded every single piece of wood that was used for that day. They made me cake stands that I gold gilded with gold leaf and a mixture of metallic paints. We had a family friend help us with cutting the tree trunk plate chargers. It was such a labor of love created by everyone around us and so for that I also found my self creating many little details like the neon pink escort cards that I painted with watercolor and then hand wrote each persons name with calligraphy gold ink. I also created small hand painted tree trunk place markers that were at everyone's seat. I wanted these to be little gifts of love that they could take home along with a little mason jar filled with my Mom's famous homemade chocolate chip cookies. Our friends and family mean so much to us and we wanted them to really feel that. This day would only come once in a lifetime and I wanted every detail to be perfect. I glittered just about everything you could glitter, I hand drew out our invitations with a mixture of print and scroll writing then had them printed by a local printer which I then tied each one with a hand dipped ombre' muslin strip of cloth. The Cake topper as well was super fun! I was able to draw it out and then have a family friend cut it out of metal which I then of course gold gilded it! You can't go wrong with gold! I made big humongous tissue paper flowers that would line the staircase and sorted through many old funny photos from over the years of Jeremy and I that were then attached to a chicken wire that hung at the entrance. My Mom and I made the wedding cakes. They were classic vanilla with homemade white butter cream, sprinkled with edible glitter and then finished off with fresh flowers and greenery the day of by my sweet Maid of Honor and I. The Grooms cake was made by my Mom and I as well. It was chocolate with homemade chocolate butter cream sprayed with a gold metallic spray and then finished with The Dallas Cowboys star. Jeremy didn't know about this cake so it was fun to see how surprised he was. Every single flower was placed by my wonderful Bridesmaids and I in their own cute little vases that were scattered throughout the venue. Each napkin was hand cut and dip dyed to pink ombre' perfection and then was ironed by the most sweetest neighbor ever. The community that we were surrounded by truly took our breaths away by all there love and willingness to want to help us with our big day so with that said it was also very important for us to give back to the community. Mostly all of our vendors were small local businesses, for instance our florist Alicia, she is a single mom who works a full time job and then comes home and works full time running Charming Events, a Flower and Event shop out of her home. We met a lovely lady Laurie. She is a stay at home mom who runs Pretty Little Plates, a vintage china rental company, out of her home. She is so sweet and has the most beautiful China I have ever seen. For our food we used a local restaurant, Chiloso, they serve delicious Mexican cuisine. Every one who works there is so awesome and was the perfect addition to the big day. Our Photographer Haley Ringo is a student who is about to graduate from The University of Texas where she will continue to live out her dream of capturing the most beautiful moments through her camera. We have since become great friends and she has been such a blessing to our lives. With all that said I think it really added so much fun and even more meaning to our special day. It wasn't just about how perfect the big day ended up but it was about the journey getting there that was half the fun. These are people that we probably wouldn't have met other wise and so for that we are very thankful for their friendships as well as all the hard work they put into our special day. We will forever be grateful and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Now its show time people! My dad gave me a big kiss on the cheek and held my hand tight. Ed Sheeran's song "This" played as I walked down the isle. I will never forget this moment. It seriously brings tears to my eyes as I think about it. I can remember finally making it down towards the end of the isle and seeing J's face. He took my breath away. What a wonderful day it was!
